PARKING

Access to safe, convenient parking makes urban life comfortable.

City properties with off-street parking are more valuable, other things being equal. But let’s not pave the world!  Follow good landscape design principles to make an attractive and environmentally responsible parking area that beautifies the block.

Good parking lot development requires professional assistance.  Storm water management, traffic analysis, curb cut design, site plan approvals (and sometimes, zoning variances) will take time and investment. The increased property value and income potential are worth trudging through the process.

Private Parking Lots

Private parking is a great amenity for residential and commercial tenants alike, and can be easily combined with other strategies. Splitting a lot into two programs can result in a small garden, lawn, and patio of the right proportions to your needs.

Shared Parking lots

Neighborhoods and small business districts can be hamstrung by lack of parking, making other opportunities fade away. Get ahead of the curve and install a multi car lot. Team with your neighbors to share the cost. Or build it yourself and rent spaces to other residents by night and businesses by day. Land is a resource that can work for you.  Don't waste it.
